How two IIT Madras students decided Chennai deserves better home food.
We're Piyush and our team, students at IIT Madras. Far from home, we missed one thing more than anything — maa ka khana. The comfort of dal-chawal after a long day. The smell of fresh rotis. The warmth of a home-cooked meal.
Chennai has incredible food. But for a North Indian far from home, finding authentic ghar ka khana that doesn't cost a fortune? Nearly impossible. The few options were either too expensive, inconsistent, or just... not the same.
So we started RUKO. Not a restaurant. Not a cloud kitchen. A mess — the way it's been done for generations back home. Fresh ingredients sourced from Chennai's best wholesale markets. Recipes perfected by home cooks. Delivered to your doorstep, six days a week.
